Hey Apple! I want this.

Apple’s new Magic Trackpad is out and it’s getting great reviews. I’m not surprised. Multi-touch makes every other input device look ancient. When I needed to buy a new macbook pro for ITP Summer Camp, all I could think about was iPad. iPad, iPad, iPad. There’s something so attractive about pointing at an object that you want without having to scroll or track over to that object.

So my question is now… where is the app that turns your iPad into the ultimate input device? The Magic Trackpad seems like a major step down from the iPad considering that the iPad’s screen can evolve to be the input device you need for the right occasion. Wasn’t that one of Steve Job’s major selling point for the iPhone? A phone with no buttons is better than little plastic keys because the OS can bring up only the necessary keys. Isn’t it the case that a keyboard that can evolve for the occasion is better than a physical keyboard? It starts off as a huge Magic Trackpad but a keyboard appears when you need to input text. Seems simple enough.

I can picture plugging in the USB to the machine to sync, connectivity over Bluetooth and then unplugging to go present at meetings. You have the power of a full Mac machine but the portability and power of the cloud because of apps like dropbox.

This seems like a no brainer.

A Couple of Creeps

I can’t remember the last time I dressed up for Halloween… maybe four years ago. Our friends Johnny and Shanna, who LOVE Halloween, hosted a party that was very inspired so Sabrina and I felt like we needed to step up our game. Sabrina’s costume turned out AMAZING and she pulled it all off in 45 min. We went as Johnny and Shanna from last year. (They dressed up as a skeleton in a top hat and a El Día de los Muertos woman.) We swung by the nyc parade and it was flattering to have people ask to take our photos. Next year we have to figure out something that doesn’t require face paint. I have a really itchy face that likes to be made out with. Good times.

Sabrina got me this beautiful flask last christmas which I put to great use when we saw Transformers 2. Couldn’t have made it through the movie without it. Anyway, Sabrina said that she would be willing to pay for engraving if I wanted to design something for it. Engraving is forever so I wanted to design a couple things and narrow down options. I feel like I’ve designed something pretty great but I just want to be sure so this might go for a couple of rounds…

Lately, I’ve been spending a lot of my time washing my hands in a normal, non-obsessed way. I spent this past sunday making soap, kind of like in Fight Club. Except instead of experiencing chemical burn, I experienced getting stuck in line for 15 minutes behind this 70 year old woman at a craft store. Still needs a bit of work but I’ll post again once this bad boy is for sale online.

I personally love the floating head in magazine design but I always thought floating head meant no body attached. A head floating in space.
